The Partners in Action Council is the parent and teacher organization that partners with the school to help with fundraising, teacher/staff support, and other activities that benefit the student body. We meet on the second Thursday of each month at 9:00 am in the staff lounge. We invite anyone who may want information about the school or school activities to attend these meetings. Our Principal is always present at these meetings for his portion of the meeting, “Coffee and Conversation”, which is a wonderful opportunity to discuss any school issues on your mind!
The PAC helps begin each school year by assisting with Registration and the 6th Grade BBQ. We sponsor fundraising activities throughout the year, such as Cherrydale catalog sales, student contests such as the “Kiss the Ram” and “Chain Link” competitions, school dances, and popcorn sales. These funds are then used to support classroom and after school activities. The PAC is also involved in a variety of school functions: examples include taking students to the Roundhouse in Santa Fe to see our state’s political process in action, promoting new clubs such as the Spirit Club, and assisting with student promotions such as the “Celebration of Learning”.
One of our biggest activities of the year is Career Day, which is coming up this Spring. We invite people from the community to come into the school and do a series of short presentations to the students about their careers. They discuss why they chose a particular career, the educational requirements for the job, and what they enjoy about their careers. The students each attend several different presentations which they are allowed to choose ahead of time. We feel this provides a valuable resource to the student body in helping them to plan for their futures. This is a fun day for everyone and the PAC has been hosting Career Day for the last several years.
As parents, we are the foundation upon which our children build their futures. Come join us and help make your child’s middle school years the best they can possibly be. There are many ways to get involved, and we can tailor it to your busy schedule!
Thank you for your support!
